We collect information necessary to provide inventory analytics, statistics, and related functionality.

Account Information: Email address, Steam ID, Steam persona name, and Steam avatar URL.

Inventory and Activity Data: Information derived from your Steam inventory and inventory history, including item acquisitions (e.g., trades, drops, purchases), case openings, trade-ups, and item attributes (such as item name, rarity, and wear values). This data is collected from publicly accessible sources or via user-initiated syncing.

Browser Extension Data: Limited technical and usage data from the Skindex browser extension, such as sync timestamps, feature usage, and scraping activity initiated by you.

Analytics and Derived Data: Computed statistics and metrics, including inventory valuations, case opening counts, rarity distributions, and other aggregated or derived insights generated from the above data.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data such as government identifiers, precise location data, or payment card information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Service Provision: To provide inventory valuation, analytics, statistics, leaderboards (if enabled), and other core Skindex features.
  • Product Development and Improvement: To maintain, improve, and expand platform functionality and user experience.
  • Communications: To send service-related notices, updates, and feature announcements. Promotional communications are optional and may be opted out of at any time.
  • Research and Analysis: To analyze usage patterns and trends, including the creation of aggregated and anonymized datasets for internal research and business insights.
  • Security and Legal Compliance: To detect abuse or fraud, protect the integrity of the platform, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell individual users' personal data. Data sharing occurs only in the limited circumstances described below.

Aggregated and Anonymized Data: We may share or publish aggregated, anonymized statistics or insights that cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual user. This may include high-level metrics or trends for research, marketing, or promotional purposes.

Public Leaderboards (Optional): If you opt in to a public leaderboard, your Steam persona name, avatar, and selected statistics (such as inventory value or case counts) will be visible to other users. You may opt out at any time via your account settings.

Legal and Safety Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Skindex, our users, or others.

4. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable, industry-standard safeguards to protect your data.

  • User data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest.
  • Data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Authentication is handled using industry-standard security protocols.
  • Pricing and market data may be cached and periodically refreshed to ensure performance and accuracy.

No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we take appropriate precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access: You may view your stored inventory data and analytics through your Skindex account dashboard.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at the email listed below. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed from our active systems. Aggregated and anonymized data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be retained for analytics, research, and reporting purposes.
  • Leaderboard Controls: You may opt in or out of public leaderboards at any time through your account settings.
  • Marketing Preferences: You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link included in those communications.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Skindex uses essential cookies required for authentication and core functionality. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

7. Third-Party Services

Skindex relies on third-party services to operate:

  • Steam API and Public Steam Data: Used for inventory information, pricing, and market data. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Used for hosting, authentication, and data storage.

These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

8. Children's Privacy

Skindex is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe such information has been collected, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Skindex after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
